Drawing On Poetry....

Good evening All,

In one of my earlier blogs, you might have seen my altered poetry book.......

I take a few lines from a page as a prompt for drawing. Today I made a start.....

It's best not to spend too long choosing the words, just be spontaneous!

Not bad.....tomorrow I will add some colour.

It's less intimidating to draw on a book page rather than clean white paper.

Join me again tomorrow for the next bit.

Bye for now, P.

What a Difference it Makes.....

Hello Out There.....

What a difference it makes when you have the right tools for the job!

I have spent this afternoon quilting my rabbits whilst watching the Horror Channel

on TV.

Strange combination eh?

I learned something new.......how to use the walking foot (dual feed foot) on my sewing

machine. It's amazing, no more tucks or pulls, no sliding or unpicking! And ....the straight

stitch plate had it's first airing too.

Slowly, slowly, but maybe my fear of quilting is at an end (love piecing/hate quilting).

Bit of hand stitching to do, then it will be in the post :).

Fancy a bit of drawing next......

Bye for now, P.

Rabbit...Rabbit...Rabbit....

Hello All,

Been out all day today, including a visit to the opening of a small textile

exhibition at the Laxey Woollen Mills, where you could see this

among many other works, under the title "Chinese Whispers". Each person took

inspiration from the previous piece of work in line. Well worth a look....

Also.....trying to finish a small baby quilt (quilt small, baby imminent).

Many rabbits!

Still need to do the quilting : /

The pattern is not my design.....It's from a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. Lovely to put

together.

Off for a quiet sit down now, back tomorrow, P.

Mini Landscapes with Infusions.....

Hello All and welcome,

Two exercises to compare mediums actually became mini landscapes......

This one shows the resist you get using matt medium scraped onto hot pressed

watercolour paper. I sprinkled Infusions powders and spritzed with water, then washed

across with a broad brush. I can see a country landscape with a dusting of snow and

hills in the distance........anyone?

The second, gesso applied with a palette knife. A wash of Infusions first this time, then

a sprinkling of powder into the wet. Stormy water perhaps?

Whatever you see, the effect is lovely!

Why not have a go..... I would love to see ideas from like-minded folk.

Bye for now, P.

A Tangled Rose......

Hello again,

Ever have weary days? Not quite right somehow?

Today.

Just managed a bit of doodling, with the help of a very good book called "The Beauty

of Zentangle".

There are thousands of Zentangle patterns out there, all you need is a shape to fill.

You really don't need to think much......just as well today!

A bit of rubbish television, a mug of tea and some doodling.

Have a good evening.... P.
