Good Evening,
Following on from the abstract art on my previous post, I still had
the stamps, dies and Infusions on the desk, so I had another play.
I love how this turned out :). I have to give credit here: I happened upon a blog
with art work that makes me go weak at the knees it's SO beautiful: art-dorota.blogspot.com.
I can only aspire to such skill, but it inspired me to try my own style and experiment.
It's all about layering, pretty washes of colour and white space.
I took my colours from the spontaneous background of the Infusions powder, and used
it again to watercolour the flowers.
Think I will be trying more of these........
And I love trying different background mounts, it changes the look of the whole thing.
Bye for now, P.

Rock Collages.....
Hello All,
On this island we are certainly not short of rocks.
In previous blogs, I have shown a few examples of my "rock art" where this
abundant supply comes in useful as a substrate to work on.
Today I have a more traditional use as inspiration for collage.
A bit of an exercise using different kinds of textured paper and fabric, and plenty of glue.
You can easily adapt this idea in fabric and stitch, with a few beads here and there.
If you look really closely at the detail in nature, it becomes beautiful abstract. Can
anyone else see a rock monster looking skywards?
The photograph was taken on a warmer and sunnier day, but I am always snapping
inspirational pics these days when out for walkies!
Thanks for looking, P.

My Golden Girl....in Collage.
Good evening, welcome to Day 15......and still going!
This is today"s creation, and for a change, I am really pleased with it.
It could be because of the subject of course, my beautiful daughter (one of them).
How can you go wrong! And I love collage. This is my version of this week's
lesson with Wanderlust 2016. I seem to work best with the more precise and controlled
techniques, less messy :) but I am determined to get to grips with "loose"!
I must say this course was a really good choice.
I will definitely be doing more of this during next week.
By for now, P.

A Bit of Textural Collage
Hello again,
This afternoon, I was looking for drawing paper for a bit of idea mapping..
you know the sort of thing where you get a large piece of paper and write
a series of connecting words around a subject to provide inspiration for a
project.
Anyway to get back to the point, I came across a couple of pieces of collage
made some time ago and put away and forgotten.
They were taken from monumental ancient Egyptian statues.
Following on from my blog yesterday about my love of texture, they reminded
me how effective the layering of simple pieces of torn paper can be.
Paper and paint........yes.

A little bit of collage fun....
Hello there,
Today I have had a little bit of collage fun. To support my crafting habit
I have a part time job in a bookshop (books being my other passion!). We also
sell art materials (am I there to earn or SPEND?). A couple of days ago we added
a selection of scrapbooking products to our stock...... well it would have been
rude not to try them out. I don't do scrapbooking but I love collage so here is my
take on these lovely papers.
For this I chose the October Afternoon Farmhouse range (note the clever literary
reference) and the face stamp is by Pam Carriker. The base is a box canvas painted
and stencilled with Fresco Finish Acrylics.
Love the colours!
