Making a Paint Chart....
Hello again,
I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I have a basket full of tubes of
acrylic paint, and I really had no idea what most of the colours are really
like....... all jumbled up, and the colours on the labels are not true representations.
So this afternoon I made a colour chart, just splotches on a strip of watercolour
paper, with the names next to them.
And it's SO useful, as I found out when I made two more textured backgrounds.
You can even visualise how the colours will go together and react in a colour
scheme. I will get so much use out of this.
I am really pleased with these :) Now I have to work out where to go from here.
Bye for now, P.

Boxes for Fun...
Hi there All,
Just a brief post tonight as it is quite late!
I had to put away the paints for today as I was altering curtains... 3 pairs :/
During my lunch break, I tuned in to a video blog post by Sam Donald, a
Stampin Up demonstrator who goes by the blog name of Pootles.
These are my two interpretations of two of Sam's folded paper boxes - she has
expertly designed and demonstrated many different ones - and I love watching,
then making them myself. It is so therapeutic!
It is really good to take even the smallest amount of time in a busy day to make
something lovely.
Rest time now, P.

Snoozing on a Sunday...I wish!
Hello :)
Daily creating has a few consequences in the domestic department....so today
involved a bit of catching up unfortunately. It started with two works of art- in
doggy coiffure! So that was the morning gone.
Then we had a brief moment of daylight so it was out for some fresh air
Then a written critique on my landscape coursework (not done that before).
So I only had time to put a few finishing touches to a journal page
Still a novice at this.... so there should be visible improvement during the year ahead
I hope you have had a productive Sunday :)
Back tomorrow, P.

Texture and Colour.....the experiments.
Hello All,
Today, as promised, I took some time to experiment with paint.
I have little experience with acrylics in actual painting, yes I have
used them many times for crafting projects.
I created texture with matt medium and various random tools...
I really haven't got it yet..... but the point is to learn how to do something different.
And I really wasn't blessed with patience. If you don't let things dry properly in
between stages, the texture medium lifts, and you get muddy colours, at least I
learned that much!
Remember the textured canvas from yesterday?
I like this a bit better, the semi transparent layers are less muddy.....Golden High
Flow Acrylics.... not used them before but will continue to do so.
Turning up some curtains tomorrow.... must avoid paint :/
Have a good evening.... P.
