Snoozing on a Sunday...I wish!

Hello :)

Daily creating has a few consequences in the domestic department....so today

involved a bit of catching up unfortunately. It started with two works of art- in

doggy coiffure! So that was the morning gone.

Then we had a brief moment of daylight so it was out for some fresh air

Then a written critique on my landscape coursework (not done that before).

So I only had time to put a few finishing touches to a journal page

Still a novice at this.... so there should be visible improvement during the year ahead

I hope you have had a productive Sunday :)

Texture and Colour.....the experiments.

Hello All,

Today, as promised, I took some time to experiment with paint.

I have little experience with acrylics in actual painting, yes I have

used them many times for crafting projects.

I created texture with matt medium and various random tools...

I really haven't got it yet..... but the point is to learn how to do something different.

And I really wasn't blessed with patience. If you don't let things dry properly in

between stages, the texture medium lifts, and you get muddy colours, at least I

learned that much!

Remember the textured canvas from yesterday?

I like this a bit better, the semi transparent layers are less muddy.....Golden High

Flow Acrylics.... not used them before but will continue to do so.

Turning up some curtains tomorrow.... must avoid paint :/

Have a good evening.... P.

A Bit White

Can you tell what it is?

Well it isn't actually anything....... mark making in texture paste ready for the addition

of colour. Not very blog friendly I'm afraid! But that is how I spent my available time

today, and it has to dry properly before I can progress.

This one is collaged and I photographed it before the gesso so you can actually see

something :)

So

For being patient, it's Saturday tomorrow and I will paint all day!

See you then, P.

A Bit of Textural Collage

Hello again,

This afternoon, I was looking for drawing paper for a bit of idea mapping..

you know the sort of thing where you get a large piece of paper and write

a series of connecting words around a subject to provide inspiration for a

project.

Anyway to get back to the point, I came across a couple of pieces of collage

made some time ago and put away and forgotten.

They were taken from monumental ancient Egyptian statues.

Following on from my blog yesterday about my love of texture, they reminded

me how effective the layering of simple pieces of torn paper can be.

Paper and paint........yes.

Getting a Feel for the Paint....

Hello again,

There are so many more types of paint and mediums these days.....mainly

acrylics.....it's like starting again from the beginning.

I'm not good at slopping paint, and my main painting experience was with

watercolour. It's difficult, you can't cover mistakes, but if you get it right it's

beautiful.

However, I LOVE texture, and acrylic has so many possibilities for this. So

I must start to experiment, loosen up, and feel the paint.

I will be out tomorrow, looking for anything that I can use to push the paint

around and create texture.

I gessoed several illustration boards today (without any incidents!) in preparation

for some serious experimentation :)

Any tips?

Bye for now, P.
